INVISIBLE ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT FOR THE SMILE OF YOUR DREAMS

There are many different ways in which teeth can be moved/straightened, with wires and brackets, fixed or removable appliances etc. Guildford Dental Practice can offer affordable removable orthodontic appliances (braces).

Due to advances in 3D printing (additive manufacturing) equipment, laser scanners and computer aided design for digitally modelling teeth into their new position there is a new way to straighten your teeth INVISIBLY. This is perfect for someone that wants their teeth straightened but does not want anyone to know that they are in treatment. This aesthetically pleasing method of moving teeth also has the added advantage of being removable for eating drinking. Have you always wanted that Hollywood smile but the thought of wires and brackets is too much to bear, then Smile TRU could be for you.

Each positioner is designed to fit over the teeth and gently guide them into the desired position.

How does it work?

Each positioner is designed to fit over the teeth and apply gentle forces to gradually move the teeth. The positioners are worn until they feel passive, usually around 14 days, you then move onto the next positioner that has further movements built in. This step by step approach ensures that you are only applying gentle forces to the teeth which is both good orthodontic practice and minimises any discomfort when wearing the positioner. The positioner will feel fairly tight when it is first placed and some mild discomfort may be experienced but this soon settles down. Impact on speech is minimal and you will soon get used to wearing them

Caring for your Smile Tru Positioners

  • Keep the retainer box with positioners out of the reach of children and away from the family dog.
  • The tooth positioners should not be exposed to extreme heat.
  • Use denture cleaner to clean the positioners. DO NOT use chemicals or toothpaste as these can damage the positioners.
  • Positioners should be removed when eating and drinking (except water).
  • Some patients experience an excess of saliva when starting treatment.
  • One or more teeth may become temporarily sensitive when placing new positioners.
  • The positioners may have a mild affect on speech. Talking with the positioners in place will speed adaptation process .
  • The patient must maintain proper oral hygiene. Failure to do so can cause cavities and periodontal disease
